Fitter

The Fitter Training Program equips students with the skills to precisely size, shape, assemble, and repair metal components used in machinery and industrial systems.

Fitter

📘 Introduction

Duration: 2 Years (4 Semesters)

The Fitter Program equips students with the skills required in majority of machinery and industrial systems. This profession demands a strong grasp of engineering principles, technical accuracy, and hand-eye coordination to ensure perfect fit and seamless functionality.

Fitters are trained to interpret detailed engineering drawings, operate a variety of hand tools, and apply advanced measuring and marking techniques to produce high-quality mechanical structures.

🔧 Core Responsibilities

Fitters are skilled in a wide range of tasks across the manufacturing and maintenance spectrum, including:

  • Technical Interpretation: Understanding component specifications and assembly requirements through engineering drawings.

  • Material & Tool Selection: Choosing appropriate materials, tools, and equipment tailored to the job.

  • Machining Operations: Performing sawing, filing, grinding, drilling, threading, and scraping with precision.

  • Measurement Techniques: Using calipers, micrometers, vernier scales, dial gauges, and other instruments for accurate dimensional checks.

  • Advanced Marking: Employing sine plates, slip gauges, scribers, and angle plates to guide machining and assembly processes.

  • Assembly Work: Joining components using rivets, screws, pins, and other fastening methods as per design instructions.

  • Performance Testing: Ensuring assembled units meet functional and safety standards.

  • Repair & Replacement: Dismantling faulty parts and replacing them with new or refurbished components.

  • Fluid Systems: Building and troubleshooting pneumatic and hydraulic circuits.

  • Basic Fabrication Skills: Performing welding, turning, brazing, and heat treatment as needed.

  • Preventive Maintenance: Maintaining and servicing simple machinery to support operational reliability.
