📘 Introduction

The Electrician Program under the Directorate of Skill Training (DST) prepares students for professional roles in electrical installation, maintenance, and repair. This comprehensive 2-year training emphasizes both theoretical knowledge and practical expertise required in residential, commercial, and industrial electrical systems.

Students gain hands-on experience in wiring, fault diagnosis, safety protocols, electrical drawings, and modern control technologies—making them industry-ready for diverse job roles in the power and infrastructure sectors.

Electrician trainees are equipped to manage a wide range of electrical tasks:

  • Electrical Circuitry: Understanding basic and advanced electrical circuits, current flow, resistance, and power.

  • Wiring & Cabling: Installing and maintaining residential, commercial, and industrial wiring systems.

  • Technical Drawing Interpretation: Reading and working from circuit diagrams and layout plans.

  • Switchgear & Distribution: Handling panels, switchboards, relays, and fuse systems.

  • Fault Detection: Diagnosing and rectifying electrical faults in systems and equipment.

  • Instrument Handling: Using tools like multimeters, insulation testers, megohmmeters, and clamp meters.

  • Safety Procedures: Implementing safe working practices and first-aid for electrical hazards.

  • Renewable & Smart Systems: Exposure to solar systems, smart home wiring, and automation basics.

  • Motor Controls: Installing and troubleshooting single-phase and three-phase motors.

  • Maintenance Work: Performing preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical equipment.
